Copyright Kinesis

Kinesis is the Employment Training and Development Project within HAGA (Haringey Advisory Group on Alcohol) and is open to people who have experienced drug and/or alcohol issues.

The Kinesis project enables clients' progress into the world of work through learning interventions including opportunities through Further Education.

As it's title suggests, Kinesis is all about energy for moving on. The name representing the journey our clients make from histories of substance abuse, and sometimes associated offending, to becoming and feeling more valued members of the community. By the end of our programme, clients shall typically be able to;

Receive evaluation/assessment as either satisfactory or above by CoNEL (The College of North East London) in basic literacy and numeracy.

Achieve external accreditation in other subjects (e.g. The Europen Computer drving Licence - ECDL, Introduction to Counselling - OCN, etc.

Apply basic; literacy, numeracy, active listening and IT training when seeking Further Education or employment opportunities.

Identify and present experience and achievements that is attractive to prospective employers.

Establish goals related to future work direction.

Navigate the job market to secure voluntary and paid work placements and, ultimately, enduring employment.

Celebrate both interim and ultimate goal accompishment in a supportive environment.

Our training programme is open to people referred by;

HAGA (Haringey Advisory Group On Alcohol)

DASH (The Drugs Advisory Service Haringey)

Haringey Criminal Justice Team

Other projects may also refer people who have been affected by substance abuse, we also accept self-referral via an initial assessment at HAGA.

Referral Criteria

In order to provide the maximum positive impact we require that any Kinesis candidates be;

Committed to moving on

Stable

Not currently engaging in substance abuse

We shall also require a client information disclosure agreement from referring agencies
